Off The Road for 4 Months - Back in Goa

Hi Guys, Just a quick note to update you on life now back in Goa India.
And yes all the images and productions are mine to answer an enquiry made.

The Cycling is over for the time being as the heat and humidity intensify in the South Asian Continent as it is building up for the monsoons. When in Chennai late last month it was 40 degrees and rising. This is simply too hot to cycle on open roads with little shelter and in fact the last few weeks in Sri Lanka took a terrible toll on both of us such that our skin was so wrinkled, (especially our arms).

As we now spend some time inside our rented apartment here in Goa our skin is recovering except Mary is suffering from prickly heat and red blobs on her arms but things are getting better as we are starting to put on a little more weight because we discovered we both lost over 14kgs since last December due mainly to not being able to get the type of protein that we are used to in the west, and the intense excerising every day. (Yes it is the fastest way to lose weight) The staple diet of rice, curry and dahl is not what we are used to and almost no dairy products nor meat was available at an affordable price except here in Goa. Hey if you want to crash diet and lose 14kg over 5 months then we have the answer.

We are now working on strengthning up our upper body through swimming everyday because cycling is all about the lower half and breathing and not much excercise for the above waist department. We have a lovely pool and sunshine everyday so no problems.

So we fly back to London on the 23rd of August 2012 as our visas expire on the 24th.
Good old Kingfisher Airlines cancelled their international routes so we were left high and dry (better said: low and wet) without any refund at this point so we had to book with probably another dodgy Indian airline Jet airways but the downside apart from losing up to £600 is their baggage allowance is half that of Kingfisher at 28kg each therefore we have to post back 3x 20kg bags using India Post but at 3010 INR per 20kg (£36) it's not too bad providing it all gets there.

The plan once back in the UK is to attend Leon's (our son) wedding in September and also decide on maybe a job for six months and decide on selling up completely in the UK (so nothing but the bike kit in all the world) or bugger off again to somewhere coming into summer like Patagonia perhaps. A lot to think about but no more news letters until the excitement starts again, so thanks for not complaining about receiving the newsletters.
