Malawi - Zambia - Zimbabwe - Botswana - Sth Africa

Well Bad News. The Sony digital movie camera which was used for all the web site shots and of course the video, Failed! so with the telephoto jammed it meant a difficult time filming anything. Lucky that from Malawi down, things were pretty civilized and pretty much the same, you know thousands of miles of bush, rivers swamps and beach and not much else, apart from nice cities especially in Zimbabwe. Only about 12 days was spent travelling these countries anyway.

Two lovely beaches on the western shores of Lake Malawi made for a great break, then alot of driving into Zimbabwe via Zambia for a night. Harare and Bulawayo were very tidy cities (for Africa) and much eating of good food was the focus. Off to Vic Falls by overnight slow train and an amazing site was to be seen. Rob & Mary managed to get a cheap deal on an expensive hotel called the Kingdom and they bloated in air conditioning and swimming pools and a chopper flight with a days cycling thrown in. So some of the group decided to stay on and catch up with the others in Jo Burg eight days later.
There were dramas galore for others as they tried surfing the rapids and canoeing the Okavango Delta in Botswana then on to Jo Burg after the customary blown tyres and loss of breaks on the ice cream van. Needless to say everyone met up at Jo Burg and all went out to dinner then gradually all said goodbye to each other as everyone went their separate ways...Economic but a hell of an adventure especially for the few who spent six months from Istanbul to Jo Burg.
Jimmy in the microlite over Vic Falls, and onward to South Africa complete with broken camera and all.
